He Saw Her Light by Bodhi Smith

"he saw her light" a new impression from bodhi smith

"those gray clouds were always blocking out all his horizons, but in the midst of all the gloominess one day, all of a sudden, her sunrays broke through to him, her hopeful light glowed, she shined on his face, and as he turned towards her, to absorb her directly, she warmed his skin, he smiled, his heart glowing as it pulsed her throughout his body, touching her light to his soul"  ― bodhinku, her light

"each day is born with a sunrise
and ends in a sunset, the same way we
open our eyes to see the light,
and close them to hear the dark.
you have no control over
how your story begins or ends.
but by now, you should know that
all things have an ending.
every spark returns to darkness.
every sound returns to silence.
and every flower returns to sleep
with the earth.
the journey of the sun
and moon is predictable.
but yours,
is your ultimate
art”  ― suzy kassem, rise up and salute the sun

“he said to her: that's how i always want to remember my time with you. like a pure white light, breathtaking to behold.” ― nicholas sparks, dear john

"after years and years of nonsense dreams, he finally dreamed of reality, and she was the light that woke him up"   ― bodhinku, awakened by her light

MEANING
as my newest photographic impression, the raw file for this image has been in my archives hiding, it was taken on the west coast of the south island of new zealand a few years ago...the sea stack on the right literally looks like the head, hair, and face of a man looking out to sea, maybe could even be me in another life...and as the sun set, he seemingly saw her light...

all day the skies had been overcast, with some spackling of rain. but right at sunset, the clouds on the horizon broke to let the sun shine through, with her warmth glowing all around, changing the mood and tone of this place, literally lighting it up and bringing it to life.. as the sun was setting, this sea stack took on a thoughtful, pensive caricature to me in the light, just like he was seeing the light for the first time, falling in love with everything that is mother nature, her light glowing across the sea onto his face, on my face, as i was him, he was me, and she warmed my heart as her light lit up my soul and the horizon at the same time...

so beautiful is the light that finally reaches your soul...

as most often what i do, i used a couple filters to balance out the exposure in camera, and also give me the required effects i look for in all my images... in the case here, i chose to use a 3-stop reverse gnd filter in combination with a 10-stop nd filter for this composition...the nd filter was needed to soften the waves and water flow and slow down time in order to permit for this 88 second long exposure, and to also help oversaturate the colors and enhance the deep blues and greens in the image, plus i used the reverse gnd filter to help balance the composition in-camera...and truly this impression would not be possible without the use of my trusty dolica tripod in combination with the progreyusa filters which i use...for this image i chose the 10-stop 3.0nd progrey genesis filter and the 3-stop 0.9 reverse gnd progrey genesis filter to help balance down the brighter sky/clouds on the middle horizon line with the upper darker rocks inside the cave and sand, rocks, water in the foreground lower part of the composition...

“you are the sun, i try to say. you are the most important. you are the only light that’s ever truly pierced my armor. you are the happiness and the spark and the one girl who never ran, who never cowered, who saw through my façade. i will never meet another girl like you, i will never want anyone as much as i want you."― sara wolf, brutal precious

“he saw her light
and he felt, the warmth of her
break through centuries of longing
lost behind clouds, blocked away from
her far away glow
feeling her on his skin
transcending into his heart
permeating through his soul
here was love true
so close, so close
he saw her light, but he knew
you must find your own light,
just like the light finds its own light
to give back, love true" ― bodhinku, love light true

"he knew she was not a goddess, because she was much more. she was the glow from the way-beyond, and when he saw her light, felt her warmth, and absorbed her energy, he knew with such a certainty, finally, what love truly was" ― bodhinku, he saw her light

HISTORY
motukiekie beach is on the west coast of the south island of new zealand, and by any standards, this is a very remote place on the planet, even though it is right next to a main travel route, new zealand state highway 6...most people would drive right by it and miss it, since it is not really denoted on the highway or even marked, it is hidden on a point at the base of a huge bluff, and its location is not even that well known or spoken about...plus, it is not very accessible unless you are there at the right tidal time, low tide going out...

due to the fascinating sea stacks, rock formations, reefs, caves, arches, and massive starfish colony, and phenomenal sunsets...plus the fact there is not a soul here, and the chances of having this beach all to yourself, as i got to experience, are very very favorable...this is one of those really cool beaches to just visit, explore, soak in the mystique, and hang out. it is extremely spectacular, and i have yet to see any photos that do its breathtaking beauty justice, including my own.

only caution here is the fact that this place is dangerous at tide levels higher than half a meter, and the tide comes in quick, rising fast...i recommend lowest tide levels, around full moon or new moon cycles, with the tide going out before you head around the north point down to the sea stacks of motukiekie...not a place you would ever want to get trapped, ever...

truly an amazing world destination, i am lucky to have walked this beach and have its memories in my mind anytime i want to recall them...

“those who love much, do much and accomplish much, and whatever is done with love is done well....love is the best and noblest thing in the human heart, especially when it is tested by life...happy is he who has loved much, and although he may have wavered and doubted, he has kept that divine spark alive and returned to what was in the beginning and ever shall be. if only one keeps loving faithfully what is truly worth loving and does not squander one's love on trivial and insignificant and meaningless things, then one will gradually obtain more light and grow stronger" ― vincent van gogh, letters to theo

"you stop believing there's a god. until someone comes along, with so much light in her that you can't help but see your own, and when you're together, that light grows even brighter.” ― jodi picoult, keeping faith

“there is no real light, but just small sparks of happiness we should photograph to contain. but if we stop to photograph, we can’t enjoy them, the flash overexposes them and they disappear.” ― cristiane serruya, trust: pandora's box

“today is tomorrow, and present is past.
nothing exists and everything will last.
there is no beginning, there was no end.
no depth to fall, no height to ascend.
there is only this moment, this flicker of light
that illuminates nothing, but oh! so bright!
for we are the spark that flutters in space,
consuming an eternity of a moment’s grace.
for today is tomorrow and present and past.
nothing exists and everything will last.” ― jane roberts, the eternal validity of the soul

“i could wait patiently, but i really wish you would:
drop everything now, meet me in the pourin' rain,
kiss me on the sidewalk, take away the pain;
'cause i see sparks fly whenever you smile
hit me with those blue eyes, baby, as the lights go down,
give me somethin' that'll haunt me when you're not around;
'cause i see sparks fly whenever you...smile.” ― taylor swift, speak now

"we are blessed. let them all go. the sound of a bird flying low across the garden. then nothing. nothing. a cloud passes. nothing again. light falls through the window, falls onto me, into me.  moments. all gathering towards this one.” ― jenny downham, before i die

wherever two souls adore truly, you will find them, never apart” ― stacey jay, juliet immortal

“a great ring of pure and endless light
dazzles the darkness in my heart
and breaks apart the dusky clouds of night.
the end of all is hinted in the start.
when we are born we bear the seeds of blight;
around us life and death are torn apart,
yet a great ring of pure and endless light
dazzles the darkness in my heart.
it lights the world to my delight.
infinity is present in each part.
a loving smile contains all art.
the motes of starlight spark and dart.
a grain of sand holds power and might.
infinity is present in each part,
and a great ring of pure and endless light
dazzles the darkness in my heart.”
― madeleine l'engle, a ring of endless light
