I ascended up into the night, and then there were only stars, and me... ― bodhi, ascension
 
Where is she tonight? It does not matter. She’s here and she’s not. Love is here, and loves all that matters…

I’m lonely, completely incomplete, but I’m not lonesome. I stand here under this glowing canopy of stars. Their light through the darkness enlightens me, illuminating me with knowing that I have all I need as I take a breath into my lungs and feel love fill me up…

I stand here and I feel so awfully small, so insignificant. I’m surrounded by the massive nothingness of the universe above…a nothingness that is everything. Its darkness soothes me, its small specks of light invite me into their embrace. I see all I need, I smile…

I listen to the silence, my god the silence, it sings the sweetest of melodies I can hear without hearing. All I can do is sing along. I smile bigger…

I can feel it, the sheer beauty of it all fills up my senses, pierces my heart, touches my spirit, saturates my soul with love and peace and hope…there’s nothing else.

When I look up to the night sky, I just know. I know that I know nothing, and that’s a good thing. No need for thoughts, they’re only noise polluting the peace of not knowing, noise disrupting the beautiful silence, noise blocking the flow of love…

I take a deep breath, I’m grateful to just be. Be here, be insignificant, be unknowing, be in love…

Love flowing down into me as I rise up into the heavens. In my "Ascension", the universe embraces me in the wisdom of not knowing, just believing. Believing in love. Believing in myself. Having faith in all the love filling me up, lifting me up. Love allowing me to rise and fly and soar across the cosmos, touch the stars and dance with the Milky Way. Love letting the universe hold me exactly right where I need to be…love, all you need is love.

This is one of my earlier images taken in late spring of 2015--it has remained a favorite of many and one of my all-time best sellers, but I've never written a blog about it before...
 
This was taken at one of the darkest sky locations in all of North America at Natural Bridges National Monument in Southern Utah on a frigid spring night with temps hovering around the 20F mark...pictured here is Owachomo Natural Bridge
 
This is a portrait composition created by using the photomerge function in adobe photoshop cc to blend together 3 separate semi-long exposures taken a few hours apart from each other...the first of the natural bridge and surrounding rocks just after the sun had set (f/8 @24mm for 71 seconds, iso-100), the second a few hours later after all the remaining light of the sun had faded away and stars in darks skies were overhead (f/1.4@23mm for 15seconds, iso-1600), and the third of the reflection of the stars in the pool of water in the evaporating dry wash (f/1.4@24mm for 13seconds, iso-3600)...
